Weekend Happenings

On Mondays at work, someone always asks me how my weekend was.
That's kind, huh? What a nice workplace.
I usually close my eyes and memory flashes of the past couple days go through my mind.
Seriously, like a quick slideshow.
Which may be directly tied to the amount of pictures we snap of this kid...
Anyway, today I sighed and replied..."Oh it was wonderful. We just stayed home."

I came home Friday to find matching Dodger boys...
"Even our socks, Mom," said Kyle...

I was so excited to put Grahammy on my shoulders for the first time...
He was so excited he barfed.

G-unit brushed his teeth (gums) for the first time! He went for it right away.
So stinking precious. We'll floss next week.

I always see little boys with their hair faux hawked.
Kyle went to the store so I thought it would be a funny surprise and I went for it!
I giggled the whole time as I tried to get the "do" in place...
Kyle liked it until he realized I used his super gunky gel. Is that bad? Oops.
We'll try again another day...

Thank you weekend. Come again...

We're Just Girls...

We saved the date, and after some last minute scrambling and lengthy facebook messages...
we made it up to Hume Lake for our
2nd Annual Point Loma Girlfriends Weekend!

Our days pretty much consisted of eating, chatting, sharing, laughing and more sharing.
Throw in one walk, one game, some silent karaoke and there you have it.
3 amazing days of friendship that went by waaaaay too fast.

Out and about. Good for the body, soul, and for photo opps.
Look at these beauties...

Lilly Johnson joined us this year!

And then the lights were dimmed and the head phones were brought out.

Needless to say, I love these girls.
I treasure our friendships. I appreciate their balance of humor and raw emotion.
I adore the memories. I look forward to making many more.
Thank you for making the drive, the effort, the sacrifice, and the desire to do this each year.

Thank you, Whitney Houston,
(may she rest in peace)
for your powerful voice that provided our theme song for our 2012 trip!
Of course we ARE just girls, as Kathleen so plainly stated.
But deep inside your words ring true...We're Every Woman.

Weekend Happenings

These past two weekends have been pure delight.
The first three day weekend was a Nipomo weekend!
We so look forward to being invited to the Nipomo house with Grandma and Grandpa.
Our days there are pure relaxation and pure delight.

Dad and Graham went over a day before Mom and had some boy time.
Gosh I love these boys.
(How many times can I really say that exact.same.pharse.)

The weather was perfect. Some rain, some shine.
Exactly what we love. Cozy time mixed with park time.

G-Unit had his first "I'm swinging all by myself" moments.

Seriously? This boy knows how to bring sweet joy to his Mommy.

AND fill Grandma with pure joy as well.
Thanks mom for babysitting during golf and date excursions!
It means the WORLD.

We love this sitting up action.
I also love the smiles that come from Graham when he spills over...
Everything is a grand adventure for GTU.

I'm so thankful for weekends and holidays
when I get to feed this silly face.

Believe it or not, Graham is listening intently as Gpa explains why some boys and girls cry...
(and why men and women cry...Graham now has his gender roles straight.)

So this is love...

Happy Valentine's Day!

To my love
Thank you for capturing my heart.
Each day you amaze me.
Each day you are my best friend.
Each day I see the Lord through how you love your son and me.
Each day I fall harder for you.
Today, we'll write it on paper. Forever I will show you.

 To my little love:
I didn't know I could love a little boy so much, so quickly.
I fall more in love with you at every new stage.
You bring so much joy to my heart.
Happy first Valentine's Day, Graham Thomas.
(Let the pink milk tradition begin!)

You boys have my heart. Forever.

Eat it up!

We knew it was coming. The big rice cereal day.
A week away from being a 6 month boy. You were so ready.
You had been grabbing our food and drinks
(and necklaces, hair, and phones)
and trying to eat them for a few weeks. The time had come.

You had your morning milk and then we set everything up.
We didn't pretend to be experts. This was new for all of us.

We sat you in your bumbo, strapped a bib on you, and
talked with really high voices about how excited you should be.

You grabbed the spoon with both hands and pulled it in.
Your face was priceless.

With each bite you have a look of total confusion
but you eat it all up and grab for more!

You spit a little bit up and it was sure messy
but you are getting better and better each day!

Throughout the week I have thought about that face
and it still makes me giggle to myself.

Daddy loved feeding you.
You can bet there was some "dramatic mess voice".

We are big food lovers in this family, Graham.
So you jumping right in makes a lot of sense.

I can't believe we are already at this next step!
You're such a big guy.

Here we go food adventure.
Here.we.go.

Weekend Happenings

Oh, you gorgeous weekend, you.
A light breeze, clean air, mountain view all around...Yum.
What a perfect weekend to just be home on Roehampton.

Friday we walked to the park.

Kyle showed G-unit how to hold a baseball.

This kid makes the best facial expressions...Spreading joy.

Graham was sneaky and snapped this shot. He's so advanced.

BIG NEWS!
This GTU had rice cereal for the first time!!

Kyle and I made ebelskivers for our Saturday porch breakfast.
Caitlynn and Zach gave us a Danish pancake pan for Christmas and so we made our first batch!
It was definitely a group project. DELICIOUS.

Want to know why I'm in love with my husband? (One of a bajillion reasons)
He put on Pandora as we sat down to eat and I quickly realized I didn't recognize the music.

Me: What IS this?
K: Traditional Danish Hymns to go with our Danish pancakes.

Again, one of the bajillion reasons...
(check out G's sweet Danish moves...)

Saturday, the Swens came for an afternoon hang out and dinner.
Graham loves his Uncle Jayson. He's loved that beard since he was a wee lad.

Excited for another park date??

 The entertainers...Captured crazy.

It's love. So thankful for our family weekends...
(look closely...more captured crazy.)
Oh and PS. It was super bowl weekend! You wouldn't know it by looking.
But what can you do when your son refuses to nap on his own during the game?
He was NOT a happy camper. Rumor has it he knew there was a party going on...
He does seem to be quite a people person... Time will tell, huh?
Grandma + Gaf + B + Molly = All smiles
